Evaluate for the signs and symptoms of an eye infection: swelling, redness, itchiness or discharge.

Flush the eye liberally with disinfected water several times a day.

Apply a prescribed antibiotic eye ointment in the eye - follow the instructions on the prescription label.

Evacuate immediately if the symptoms persist. Antibiotic therapy may be necessary.
