Race Tracks in East Texas

High-speed racing in east Texas brings a bit of NASCAR style excitement to the Lone Star state. Brightly colored cars whizzing around the track at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour bring fans to their feet while rooting for a favorite stock car racer. East Texas racing fans can morph from spectator to driver at Team Texas High Performance Driving School. Participants slide behind the wheel and run laps around the track.

  1. Lone Star Speedway

    • Lone Star Speedway is a half-mile racetrack banked by clay with a seating capacity of ten thousand. The track routinely plays host to a dozen races per year. In addition to stock and limited modified races, this east Texas track also hosts Ed Beckley's Monster Truck Nationals event. Races typically scheduled at the Lone Star Speedway include the World of Outlaws late model winged and modified competitions, ASCA National Sprint Cars race, Southern Thunder Sprints contest and the SUPR Dirt late models, modified and factory stock races. Pre-race autograph sessions and special events for children occur throughout the racing season.

    Pine Valley Raceway Park

    • Pine Valley Raceway Park earned the "2005 Best Track" award by the Mr. Gasket Pro Am Tour and the Outlaw Fuel Altereds Association. The track stretches to 3,500 feet in length and offers a 100-foot long concrete burnout area. General grandstand seating houses up to 1,500 spectators. Luxury "Tower Suites" offer additional seating and a bird's eye view of races. The Pine Valley Raceway Park hosts nearly 20 races and special events annually. Races routinely held at this east Texas racetrack include the IHRA Pro Am Tour. Local radio stations, KICKS 105 and KFOX 95.5 broadcast races and routinely host live remotes from the raceway. Meet regional racing starts during special events and pre-race autograph and photo sessions.

    Abilene Speedway

    • Abilene Speedway boasts a half-mile stock car racing track. The classes of race cars, which compete at this east Texas racetrack, include IMCA modifieds, stock cars, hobby stocks and southern shortstops, street stocks, limited late models, junior mini-stocks and pure stocks. Nearly 20 events take place annually and include monster truck contests, stock demolition derby, Mid-Season Championship, ASCS Sprint Car Series races and the Ice Breaker for IMCA classes. Special events, which include interactive activities for children and autograph and photos nights, occur routinely throughout the season.
