How to Extend a Chinese Visa
Instructions
-
-
1
Prepare a letter detailing the reason for your request. Ask a Chinese friend to translate if possible.
-
2
Collect evidence supporting your need to extend your Chinese visa, such as a changed plane ticket or a letter from your employer detailing the nature of your activities.
-
3
Bring your letter and supporting documents to the visa office of the local Public Security Bureau. Complete the visa-extension form.
-
4
Remain calm and polite when requesting an extension. Local visa officials are not obligated to grant you an extension, so it's best to be respectful.
-
5
Bring money, as you may be required to pay a fine if your Chinese visa is expired. Fines can run up to 5,000 RMB. Some officials are more lenient with fines than others.
