How to Draft a Winning Fantasy Basketball Power Forward

One of the most important positions in the fantasy draft is power forward.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify the rules for your fantasy basketball league. For example, some leagues allow multiple players in the injured reserve, while some do not even have an injured reserve. If the league has no injured reserve then an owner has to either cut the disabled player or allow that player to take a roster spot while not accruing any points.

    • 2

Determine if there are any changes to a player's team in the off-season. If the team changes its offensive philosophy to an up-tempo style, it can diminish the fantasy basketball scoring chances of their power forward.

    • 3

Research the player's season schedule. For instance, the player may play in a tough division, or the teams have some particularly tough road trips during the season. Generally, players play better at home than on the road. A long road trip at the end of the season can cripple a fantasy basketball team in the playoffs.

    • 4

Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each power forward's team. Stick with proven teams that play meaningful games for most of the season.

    • 5

Rank the available power forwards based on the previous steps. Also, rank each position in the draft according to the number of draftable players. This is helpful because sometimes a draft is stacked at one position and bereft of talent at another.
