How to Use the Waiver System in Yahoo! Fantasy Leagues

When a fantasy owner drops a player in a Yahoo! fantasy league, the player is placed on waivers. If you want to pick up a player who is on waivers, you need to understand how the waiver system works. Yahoo! fantasy leagues use waivers to make changing rosters as fair to all owners as possible.

      Log in to Yahoo! and go to your fantasy league's main page. Look at the team standings; the column on the right is waiver priority. Look at your team to see what your waiver priority number is. This is usually based on where a team drafted, with the first drafting team given lowest priority.

      Navigate to the available player's page. Under the owner column, the player is either listed as FA, which means free agent, or W, which means waivers. If the player is on waivers, a date will be in parentheses after the W. This is the date that the player is to become a member of the team with the highest waiver priority that claimed him or a free agent if he clears waivers.

      Click on the green plus sign if you would like to add a player who is on waivers. Then select the player from you team that you wish to drop should you acquire the player. Once you confirm your waiver claim, you will see the pending waiver claim at the top of your team page.

      Check the transactions page on the date the player is set to be placed on a team. If he was placed on your team, you were the team with the highest waiver priority to claim him. If he is on someone else's team, then that team had higher waiver priority than your team.
