1
Schedule a meeting of all the team owners in the fantasy basketball league. Since the scoring system is important, all the team owners should be able to give their input on how exactly the scoring system should be set up. Doing so will help avoid controversies down the line.
-
2
Decide whether you want to go with a head-to-head scoring system or a rotisserie scoring system. A head-to-head scoring system pits teams against teams on a weekly basis. A rotisserie scoring system is a league-wide competition that uses cumulative stats. Each style has its good points and bad points. Head-to-head adds more of an element of luck, but usually keeps the team owners interested longer into the season. Rotisserie eliminates the possibility for rivalries between team owners; however, it is usually a more fair scoring system.
-
3
Pick which fantasy basketball categories to use for the scoring system. There are over 40 different categories that can be used to accumulate points in fantasy basketball. It's usually best to select between 6 and 12 categories.
-
4
Distribute a list of the exact scoring system rules to all the league owners. Make sure that each owner understands how the system is going to work. It's always best to answer any questions before the season starts. Once everyone in the league completely understands the scoring system, you are ready to begin the fantasy basketball season.
