How to Create an NBA Fantasy League

If you enjoy watching the action on the court of your favorite NBA teams and players and wish you could be part of the action, then start playing fantasy basketball. The NBA is one of the biggest of the fantasy sports leagues. So grab some friends, appoint a commissioner and start your own. Here's how.

Instructions

    • 1

Find ten to twelve friends that will make up your NBA fantasy league. Ten is the optimal number of teams but you can have as many or as few as you'd like.

    • 2

Locate a website that will host your league. Yahoo is a popular choice for hosting a fantasy league.

    • 3

Choose a commissioner for your league. This is an important decision since this is the person who will be settling any disputes in your league.

    • 4

Determine how you're going to handle your draft. The easiest way may be to randomly assign teams draft numbers and have them pick the best available on the board at the time.

    • 5

Decide on your roster set up. Some teams play with as few as five players with one for each position or as many as fifteen players with two back-ups for each position.

    • 6

Figure out which categories you're going to track. Perhaps your league is just going to track points, rebounds and assists or maybe you'd like to add steals and blocks to that list as well.

    • 7

Pick a scoring system for your fantasy league. There are several options to choose from such as rotisserie scoring, head-to-head or fantasy point. Each has their pros and cons so make a decision that is best for your league.
