How Do I Create a Bowling League?

A bowling league can be a great way to connect with friends, make new ones and hone your bowling skills. It fosters a spirit of community and friendly competition. It's also a great way to relax and do something you enjoy. If you'd like to create a new bowling league, you'll need to recruit members, set up a schedule for games and choose league prizes. Get in touch with your local bowling alley and let the good times begin.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact the manager of your local bowling alley to see whether the alley is willing to host a bowling league. Decide on a time your league will meet, say, Tuesdays at 7 pm. Ask the manager how much the alley will charge per player.

    • 2

Choose a schedule for your league. One common schedule is once a week for 12 weeks. Decide how much you will charge your members in dues -- usually, leagues charge a bit more than the bowling alley's fees so there's money for a prize pool.

    • 3

Post fliers around the bowling alley advertising your new league. Choose a fun name for the league. For example, a Sunday morning league could be called the "Holy Roller League." Make sure your flier clearly states how much it costs to join the league and what time games will be held. Post fliers at nearby businesses, like coffee shops and grocery stores, as well.

At the first league meeting, divide players into teams of four if they haven't already done so on their own. Ask each team to designate a captain. Distribute a schedule that clearly shows which teams will play each other on which dates, and tell your league about any prizes (cash, trophies, even free beer) you may have set up. It's time to bowl!
