How to Customize Football Jersey Lettering

Find two or three sporting goods stores or websites you may want to go to for your customization. Which store or website you utilize depends largely on which type of jersey you are customizing. If you are customizing an NFL jersey, the best website to use would be NFLShop.com, especially since they are familiar with the lettering styles of all NFL teams. NFLShop.com allows you to purchase your jersey and customize it for $20 more than the price of a replica jersey with a real player's name and number on it, at 2010 prices. If you are looking to customize a youth football jersey, however, then a website such as TheSportingStore.com may be your best bet. Of course, a smaller, local sporting goods store may be able to customize all jerseys for a fraction of the cost.

Read plenty of reviews for the stores or websites you are considering. Not all sporting goods stores and websites customize all football jerseys, and not all of them necessarily do a good job. The last thing you want is lettering that does not match the color or style of the jersey or lettering that is crooked or otherwise done in a slipshod manner. And, of course, as with anything else, shop around for prices.

Double-, heck, even triple-check your spelling before placing your order. It is not uncommon for spelling errors to occur in orders such as these. In fact, it is generally a good idea to check with the merchant doing the customization to ensure that you are placing your order correctly. For example, while some merchants will take quotation marks to mean that the words contained in the quotation marks are to appear on a jersey, some merchants will include those quotation marks on your jersey.

Check that the merchant has spelled everything correctly immediately upon your receiving your order. The person customizing the jersey is human, too. While merchant misspellings are the exception, they do happen.
