How to Decorate a Room With a Michigan Wolverines Theme

The Michigan Wolverines have historically been a powerhouse in the NCAA. Known for a successful football program and “The Big House,” the Wolverines have also won national championships in basketball, ice hockey and baseball, just to name a few. Fans of the Wolverines range from alumni all the way to people who happen to love the tradition of Michigan athletics. Here is how to decorate a room with a Michigan Wolverines theme.

      Paint the room in the colors of the Michigan Wolverines. The maize and blue of Michigan are quite possibly the two most famous colors in all of college sports. Use both of these colors when painting the room.

      Paint the Michigan “M” on the walls of the room. The simple letter “M” is synonymous with Michigan. If you paint a wall maize, use blue for the “M” on that particular wall or vice versa. Either way is acceptable.

      Paint or place the phrase “Go Blue!” somewhere in the room. Those two simple words make up the trademark phrase of the Michigan Wolverines. Anytime anybody says the words “Go Blue,” there is no doubt that person is referring to the University of Michigan.

      Find a large picture or poster of Michigan Stadium and place it in the room. “The Big House” as it is known is the home of the Michigan football team and is arguably the most famous football stadium in the country. You can find different posters that have different views of the stadium either at team shops or online.

      Place something in the room to commemorate the rivalry between the University of Michigan and Ohio State. This football rivalry has often been called the greatest rivalry in all of American sports. Perhaps you could find pictures or newspaper clippings of a game in which the Wolverines defeated Ohio State. You could also find some anti-OSU memorabilia in shops in Ann Arbor or online and place those objects in the room.

      Pay homage to Michigan athletic programs other than football in your room. The Wolverines have won national championships in baseball, ice hockey, basketball, women's field hockey, men's golf, gymnastics and other sports as well. Find pictures or other apparel of these national championship teams and place them throughout the room to showcase the dominance of the Wolverines.

      Put something in the room to commemorate the Michigan fight song. “Hail to the Victors” is probably the most well known fight song in all of college sports. You could put the lyrics of the song in your room or even find an object that plays the fight song, such as a clock.
