Football Game Sign Ideas

Cheer on your favorite football team by holding up an encouraging sign during the game. Making the signs can be as much fun as using them. Customize football game signs for your particular team by making them in team colors and using the team–or opponent's name–in the sayings. Use large, clearly written letters on your signs so they can be seen around the field. Make signs you can use at all games, as well as some for specific opponents and big games.
  1. Stomp Out _____

    • Use a foot outline as the shape of a stomp poster.

Cut a poster board sign in the shape of a giant footprint or a shoe. Write “Stomp out ______!” on the sign, filling the blank with the opposing team's name or mascot. For instance, if your football team plays the Oakville Badgers, your sign might read “Stomp out Oakville!” or “Stomp out the badgers!”. This sign will need to be changed before each game played based on the name of the opposing team.

    Crush 'em!

    • Attach cans to your "crush 'em" sign.

Glue crushed aluminum cans to the edges of a piece of poster board, and write “Crush 'em, ________!” on the sign, inserting your team's name into the blank. Alternatively, write, "Crush the _____!" and insert your team's opponent.

    Acrostic Sign

    • Write your team's name or mascot vertically from top to bottom on a poster. Take each of the letters of your team's name and use it as the first letter of a word to create a phrase. While the team name is vertical, the words are written horizontally. For instance, if your football team mascot is the Giant, the words across could be: Get In A New Touchdown.

    Giant Helmet

    • Make a poster in the shape of a football helmet colored with your team's colors.

Cut out a large poster board into the shape of a football helmet, and color it your football team's colors. Hold it up to support the team whenever they make a touchdown or field goal or to encourage the defense during tough situations.
