Spirit Ideas to Do Before a Football Game
-
Locker Room Pinata
-
Find a football-themed pinata. If possible, find a pinata in the shape of a football player wearing the colors of the opposing team. Hang the pinata in the locker room before the players get dressed for the big game. Include a note such as "Beat (name of opponent)" or "Hit 'Em Hard" or some other cute play on words. Then, when the team comes in to get dressed, the players can whack the pinata to get fired up for the big game.
Personalized Water Bottles
-
Order personalized water bottles that have your school name and team mascot name and style it with vivid colors. If you are ordering the bottles for one specific game, you also can put the date of the game and the opponent on the water bottle label. Other ideas include listing the players' last names on the water bottle. These water bottles can be given out to fans as they come to the game. Then everyone in the stands will be holding a water bottle with vivid colors that can be seen en masse from the field.
Spirit Towels
-
Spirit towels are small hand towels that feature your team name and colors. Pass these out to everyone in the stands. Then during the game as fans cheer for your team, people can wave their towels in celebration when a big play occurs. The towels also can serve as a fundraiser for the football and cheerleading programs. A variation of this could be small pom-poms in your school colors. People can shake the pom-poms to cheer on the team.
Spirit Day
-
On the day of the big game, or the day before if it falls on a weekend, instruct everyone in the school to wear the school colors. The hallways will be filled with a sea of those colors as everyone gets ready for the big football game. As an incentive, hand out free candy bars to all of those who participated. Mention it to the teachers and get them to participate as well.
