Sports Spirit Ideas

Do you have an athlete in the family? Are you a super fan of the local team or a professional team? Besides the cling-on car decal, cup holders, foam fingers, and hats that we usually see, there are many other ways to show team spirit. Show your favorite team how proud you are of them with fun and easy sport spirit items that you make yourself. While you are at it, why not make many and share with other fans in the stands?
  1. Wear Your Pride

    • Spirit pins are easy to create with a pin-making machine and a printer. You can customize your pins with team names and even the numbers and names of certain teammates.

Spirit ribbons can be worn around a cute ponytail on little girls and moms alike. There are several on-line tutorials that give easy instructions on creating these cute ribbons. By using thicker ribbon and gluing a pin to the back, you can wear your spirit ribbon on a shirt or purse.

Pride bracelets can be used as good luck charms. Purchase embroidery floss in team colors and weave several "friendship" bracelets (you can find the instructions on-line). Hand out your bracelets to players for good luck. You could also add silver charms such as footballs, volleyballs, etc. and hand them out to all of your friends!

    Fan Comfort

    • Comfy seating is a must at any sporting event. Make sure you are comfortable and showing your team pride by purchasing a plain stadium seat and some vinyl appliques. Applique your favorite team's name on your seat, and you will have yourself a comfy billboard for your favorite team. Attach inexpensive marabou feathers or a fluffy boa around the edges for a girlie-glam look!

Cover up with a spirit blanket! Purchase an inexpensive fleece blanket and some iron-on letters in team colors. Iron on your favorite team member's name and number so you can cheer from the stands and stay warm, too.

    Be a Stand Fan

    • Let everyone see how proud you are with a spirit sign! The best way to watch a sports activity is from the stands. Buy some poster board and stencils and make a unique sign to hold up during the big game. Make sure your sign is big enough for your team to see.

Spirit flags are also an awesome way to show your pride. Purchase several yards of inexpensive material in your favorite team's colors. Cut two colors into 6"x6" squares. Stack the squares on top of each other and tie them together in a knot at one corner.
Stand out from the crowd with funky hats. Purchase hats in team colors. Attach trinkets, fur trim, or anything that represents your team.
