Football Spirit Wear Ideas

Dressing up to watch your favorite football team is an ideal way to show your support and spirit to the athletes on the field. Team spirit effectively peps up a crowd and keeps the group cheering for their football team to come out victorious. Whether you are completely new to football (and do not even know which teams are playing) or are a die-hard fan, you can show your pride by simply incorporating some team colors or going all out with body paint.
  1. Paint

    • Various degrees of paint-wearing exist, depending on how big of a fan you really are. If you are the kind of football fan who follows your home team from town to town, or makes sure to catch every game on television, you might also be the football fan who paints his body in the team colors when attending a live game. Guys have the option of taking off their shirts to display their artistic chest-painting skills. Solid colors, stripes, letters or numbers are all options when it comes to body paint wear. For the milder fan (as well as females), a simple face painting may suffice, or perhaps the painting of a favorite player's number on your cheek.

    Jerseys

    • Wear your favorite player's jersey, or any jersey from the team, to show your spirit. When enough fans wear football jerseys to games, the players can look out into the crowd and spot their fans from far away. Many times fans with jerseys will sit together so they really stand out in a crowd, especially when their team is playing in another team's home stadium. And don't think you can only wear jerseys to live games; feel free to sport your team spirit whether you are watching the game at home or at a sports restaurant.

    Props

    • Depending on who you are rooting for, that team may have a theme that has made its way onto head gear, such as giant blocks of cheese. While wearing funny hats on your head is not fashionable for the runway, it can be very appropriate for a game, and is an obvious statement of spirit. Wigs, boas and tattoos in the team colors also make for spirit wearing fun.

    Dressing Up

    • For football fans who have box seats or enjoy classing it up during a game, formal attire can be appropriate spirit wear when accompanied with the right accessories. For instance, men can pair a dark or khaki suit with your football team's tie and matching cuff links. If a suit is too formal, you can wear a white-collar pullover with your team's emblem on it. The ladies have similar clothing options with different accessories. Many sports teams have spirit jewelry, such as bracelets and earrings in the team colors.

    Tying in Color

    • If you don't have paint or jerseys, and you don't want to invest a lot of money into finding the right accessories to wear to the game, simply try tying in some of the team's colors into your outfit. Even just throwing on the red shirt from the back of your closet can be spirit enough.
