School Spirit Banner Ideas

School spirit can go a long way in uniting a school and a community when a high school team is facing a big game. A great cheer, an exciting dance or cleverly worded banners can work wonders for increasing overall attitude. However, if it's cliched or done poorly, it can have just the opposite effect.
  1. Spread the news

    • Make banners around the school that look like headlines from newspapers. Have the first line read, "Spread the News" and the second line should be "The Cougars are going to beat the Blue Devils this week." In subsequent banners, talk about star players who the school can rally behind.

    Stomp out the Devils

    • Make banners that read "Stomp out the Devils" or whatever the name is of the opponent your school is facing in the big game. This works especially well if your team is named after a large animal that has the capability of stomping a natural enemy. Even if it does not, it's something that translates from the poster to the stands because the spirit leaders can lead a dance that gets everybody stomping and making a loud and intimidating noise that gets under the skin of the opponent.

    Player recognition

    • Make banners for the players on your team and hang them in strategic locations throughout the school. This is far more practical for basketball than football because a basketball team will have 12 players on the roster while a football team will have at least 40 and sometimes much more. In football, you might want to make posters for the starters on offense and defense as well as the coaching staff.
