Homemade Sports Noisemakers

Rattle Noises
-
A variety of noisemakers can be made using the same basic principle. By putting small, hard objects into a container, easily create an object that produces a rattling noise when you shake it. There are a variety of different materials you can use to create this type of noisemaker. For a softer, more subdued noise, use a paper plate. Fold the plate in half and staple around the edges, leaving a hole at the top. Fill the inside with dried beans, rice, coins or beads. As you add more items, shake the plate gently until you are satisfied the amount of noise. Then, finish stapling around the edge. For a louder version of this noisemaker, use an empty plastic water bottle. After adding beans, coins or beads to the inside of the bottle, glue the cap securely in place. Use markers, paint and other items to decorate the outside of the noisemaker in the colors of your favorite sports team.
Kazoo Noises
-
Make a homemade kazoo to produce additional noise at sporting events. To make this homemade noisemaker, gather empty toilet paper rolls or empty paper towel rolls. Measure about one inch away from one end of the tube and punch a hole in the tube. On that same end, place a square piece of wax paper over the opening. Loop a rubber band around the tube to hold the wax paper securely in place. The wax paper must be pulled tight against the opening to ensure the noisemaker makes a good sound. Use makers and non-toxic paints to decorate the tub in the colors of your favorite sports team. Once the tube has dried, talk into the open end of the tube; a variety of interesting noises will be heard out of the other end.
Squeaking Noises
-
For a surprisingly loud and funny noisemaker, you will need a paper cup, a long piece of yarn (two or three feet) and a paper clip. Make a small hole in the bottom of the paper cup and insert the yarn through the hole. Tie a paper clip to the end of the string that is coming out the bottom of the cup; this will prevent the string from slipping back through the hole. The remaining length of string should travel through the inside of the cup and out the top opening. Then, wet the string with water. To make noise, simply pinch the yarn with your fingers and drag your fingers down the yarn. The inside of the cup amplifies the sound to make a surprisingly loud noise.
