Problems With StubHub

StubHub, an Internet ticket marketplace, was founded in 2000. The company gives ticket sellers and ticket seekers a chance to connect and make ticket transactions for hundreds of sports and concert events. StubHub became a part of eBay in 2007. While StubHub provides an extensive satisfaction guarantee for buyers and sellers, sometimes problems arise for both parties involved.
  1. Seller Doesn't Have Tickets

    • In some instances, a seller will make a listing for tickets he does not have. He might be planning on acquiring tickets at a later date or simply might produce a fraudulent listing that he has no intention of fulfilling. Buyers who choose these types of listings can request alternative tickets but might end up missing the event while they wait for the seller to confirm the tickets. In this case, StubHub would offer a refund.

    Ticket Arrival Time

    • StubHub relies on sellers to promptly deliver the tickets to the buyer after confirming an order. On occasion, the tickets to an event will not arrive by the scheduled delivery date and sometimes are not delivered in time for the event itself. StubHub offers a "FanProtect" guarantee that says the company will find alternative tickets or refund all charges if the tickets do not arrive in time.

    Wrong Tickets

    • Some StubHub sellers have a wide variety of tickets to sell, including numerous games within one team's season. Because of this, errors sometimes occur. A seller might list the wrong tickets or he might send out tickets for a different event. StubHub offers to cover any mistakes through its "FanProtect" guarantee.

    Website Glitches

    • Because StubHub is a busy website with a wide variety of events occuring at the same time and in the same cities, certain technical glitches can arise. For example, in March 2011, hundreds of ticket orders had to be re-entered because of a glitch on the StubHub website. The company offered an apology and specific rebates, but the glitch was a headache for many StubHub users.

    Fees

    • Fees have become a prevalent part of any ticket transaction, and StubHub requires fees to be paid no matter what delivery method is chosen. For instant download or electronic delivery, buyers paid about $5 in 2011. Those who require StubHub's FedEx service can pay anywhere from $11.95 to $24.95 for a ticket order to be delivered.
