Where to Find Classic Sports Games on DVD
-
Bookstores Online
-
Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and Borders Books have websites with seemingly limitless inventories. Their respective DVD sections include a deep sports selection from classic college football to the NHL and NBA.
Team Websites/ Stores
-
Some fans might be looking for more obscure moments in their team's history. For example, if you're a Washington Redskins fan, you might be looking for a DVD of the team's 14-13 comeback victory against the Dallas Cowboys in 2005. This is hardly a classic sports moment but a game Redskins fans remember. NFL Films would not have this game marketed nationally, but the Redskins will have the DVD featuring this game available at the team store on the website. Every major sports team has a store attached to its website, and that is often a fan's best bet to find a classic game.
Contact the Rights Holder
-
Fans don't often have to resort to this, but the television station or media company that owns the rights to the specific game are equipped to handle requests for certain telecasts. A fan can contact a station and request a copy of the game they're looking for. There might be a price, and the fan might have to sign something promising not to reproduce the telecast or distribute it for profit, but in the end, fans will do what they have to for nostalgia.
