Archery Pro Shop Tools

Archery pro shops are small, local specialty shops that offer archery and bow supplies and repair services. With the technical demands of setting up and tuning an archery bow, archery pro shops need various shop tools to provide fast, professional service for customers. These tools allow technicians to efficiently tune a bow for maximum accuracy, consistency and performance.
  1. Bow Press

    • A bow press is the most important tool for an archery pro shop. Bow presses are designed to compress the limbs of the bow to release the tension on the bow string. While the bow is in the press, a technician can change the bow string or add accessories to the bow string such as a peep sight, rest cable or string silencers. Only compound bows with standard and parallel limbs can be placed in the bow press.

    Arrow Saw

    • Arrows are purchased at full-length from the factory and technicians cut the shafts to specific lengths based on a customer's draw length. The arrow saw cuts aluminum or carbon shafts efficiently and cleanly to result in a consistent group of arrows. The saw includes a built-in tape measure and stopper that allows the technician to accurately cut a dozen arrows in only a few minutes.

    Fletching Jig

    • As customers shoot arrows on a range, they will occasionally have vanes, or feathers, come off of the shaft. A fletching jig allows a technician to set up and install vanes ranging from two to four inches in length. The fletching jig can install a straight, right helical or left helical vane based on the customer's preference. A technician can also use the fletching jig on new shafts if customers want to customize the colors of their vanes.

    Allen Wrenches

    • Every bow and accessory includes bolts that require allen wrenches to install and tighten. As a result, an essential pro shop tool is a set of standard and metric allen wrenches. A special archer's tool includes multiple allen wrenches and screwdrivers in one tool. The allen wrenches allow a technician or customer to change draw weight along with installing the quiver, sight and rest to the bow.
