What Is a Fast Flight Bow String?

Fast Flight bow strings are a kind of synthetic bow string used in modern archery. The strings are made from a durable and light-weight polyethylene material called Spectra.
  1. Durability

    • Fast Flight is an extremely durable type of string and is unlikely to break from normal use. The strings have a strength per strand of just over 100 lbs.; the average archer will use 16 to 18 strands per string.

    Stretch

    • The Fast Flight material has a small amount of stretch to it--stretching just 1 percent--making it gentle on bows. This stretch should reach its maximum amount in less than 500 shots.

    Fast Flight Plus

    • Fast Flight Plus is the next generation of Fast Flight string, made from the industrial ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fiber Dyneema. These strings are more durable and have less stretch to them than regular Fast Flight strings.
