1
Use a scale to check the draw weight on the Reflex bow. Hook the bow string on the bottom of the scale and press the bow until it reaches full draw. Make adjustments to the limb bolts until it reaches 65 lbs. of draw weight resistance.
-
2
Secure all screws and bolts along with the additional accessories such as rests, sights, quivers and stabilizers with an archer's wrench. Loose accessories will prevent you from fine tuning a Reflex compound bow.
-
3
Measure the brace height, peep sight placement, arrow nock placement and other specifications with a tape measure. Use the Reflex owner's manual to obtain the recommended specifications. For example, the brace height measurement --- measured from the bow string to the back of the grip --- will commonly range from 7 to 8 inches. Make adjustments accordingly to return to the bow specs.
-
4
Time the cams. Reflex compound bows use a two-cam system, and proper timing is essential for fine tuning and accurate shooting. A bow press can be used to test the timing of the cams.
-
5
Use an arrow shaft selection chart to choose the proper arrows based on the 65-lb. draw weight. Other considerations for arrow selection includes cam type, arrow length and point weight. For example, a 100-grain tip on a Reflex compound bow using a 28-inch arrow will need about a 400 spine weight carbon arrow.
-
6
Shoot the arrow through a paper tuning machine. The tear on the paper will show if you need to change the arrow shaft spine weight. For example, a left tear in the paper indicates a weak spine requiring a stiffer shaft and a right tear indicates a stiff spine requiring a weaker shaft.
