G5 Archery Information

Archery is a sport that requires the archer to shoot arrows at a specific target. For consistent accuracy, equipment and form must be finely tuned. In the early days, primitive archery was simple and used very little equipment. Today's technology-filled compound bows and equipment can increase the overall accuracy. G5 Outdoors produces the archery equipment to enhance the sport and improve accuracy.
  1. History

    • G5 Outdoors has been producing archery products since 2000. The company is family owned with more than 40 years of precision manufacturing and design experience. Through the years, its patents and designs have revolutionized the archery industry.

    Broad Heads

    • G5 produces several different models of broad heads, from fixed-blade to mechanical. The T3 broad head is an expandable three-blade broad head with a 1 1/2-inch cutting diameter made from 100 percent steel construction. Another popular expandable broad head is the Tekan, which is a rear deploying three-blade mechanical broad head with a 1 1/2-inch cutting diameter and a cut-on contact tip. Two fixed-blade broad heads are the Montec and Montec CS. Both of the broad heads have the same overall design with a one-piece construction featuring a 1 1/8-inch cutting diameter. The regular Montec is made from 100 percent steel and the CS is made from 100 percent carbon steel.

    Sights

    • Sights are used by archers to accurately shoot at various distances. G5 sights can range from two pins to four pins. The Optix XR is a four-pin sight with three fixed pins and one hybrid-floating pin. The hybrid-floating pin can be adjusted for shooting extended distances with the adjustment knob. Most hunters will set the first three pins for 20, 30 and 40 yards with the floating pin used for 50, 60 or 70 yards. The Optix LE is a five-pin sight made from a lightweight magnesium alloy housing weighing only 5.8 oz. The third axis leveling, corrosion-resistant components and harmonic dampers allow for years of enjoyment.

    Bows

    • G5 Outdoors manufactures Quest bows in four different models--Primal, Heat, Smoke and Hammer. The Primal is 32-inch axle-to-axle with a 7 1/8-inch brace height and a weight of 3.9 lbs. The Heat has a 33-inch axle-to-axle measurement and 6 5/8-inch brace height at 3.9 lbs.

    Technology

    • Each piece of equipment made by G5 undergoes a development and testing that ensures high-quality products. Each broad head is "spin tested" that ensures straightness and consistent arrow flight. The "precision deployment system" is utilized by the mechanical broad heads and allows the broad heads to deploy with less than 3 lbs. of energy.

    Considerations

    • Archers should take into consideration the type of game they are hunting and the conditions. They should choose the equipment that best fits the hunt and their individual bows. For example, if hunting moose in Alaska, an archer should not use a lightweight 85-grain mechanical broad head and instead consider a 125-grain fixed-blade broad head, such as the Montec or Montec CS.
