How to Troubleshoot an Electro-Mech 1070 Baseball Scoreboard

The Electro-Mech 1070 is a large digital scoreboard with ball, strike, hit, out and error indicators. The scoreboard is approximately 16 feet wide and 5 feet high and features LED digits that are 18 inches in height. Fortunately, a copious amount of support documentation is available directly from the manufacturer. The support documentation provides information on how to not only set up the scoreboard but also how to troubleshoot any problems that may arise.

Ensure that the scoreboard is connected to a source that supplies 120 volts VAC; the scoreboard will not function correctly without the correct power source. Further, check to see that the power cord is not in close proximity to the unit's control cable as the power cable can be a source of interference.

Verify that the control cable is properly connected to the scoreboard via the 1/4-inch stereo jack. The pins on the jack are numbered from one to three, starting with the pin on the right-hand side of the jack. The black wire from the control cable should be connected to pin "1" while the red wire should be attached to pin "2." The remaining "Shield" wire should be connected to the pin "3."

Shut down the scoreboard then power it back on in the event of a malfunction. Switch the power disconnect switch to the "OFF" position and unplug the control console power cord. Power the scoreboard back on by reconnecting the control console power cord and switching the power disconnect switch to "ON."
