How to Take Care of a Composite Bat
Instructions
-
-
1
Use your composite bat in conditions that are warmer than 65 degrees F to avoid decreasing the bat's performance. The bat may also break more easily if used in colder weather.
-
2
Store your bat in the house overnight to keep it warm, especially if it is early spring or late fall and you live in cooler areas of the country.
-
3
Refrain from hitting the ball close to the handle of the bat, whenever possible. Contact on the thinner part of the bat can break the composite fibers.
-
4
Break in your bat before you use it in a game, for improved performance. Use it in batting practice for roughly 100 to 200 solid hits from pitches 40 mph or faster to increase the trampoline effect of the bat. Rotate the barrel after every few hits to break it in all the way around.
-
5
Clean your bat regularly as you would any wooden or aluminum bat. Wipe off any dirt with a damp cloth to keep the hitting surface clear of anything that might affect its performance.
