Unique Ideas for Baseball Photos
-
Posed Actions
-
Baseball team members should each strike a pose of an action commonly taken when playing a game. Poses will vary depending on what position the player ordinarily fields. For example, a catcher might be squatting with his glove in front of him. An outfielder could be jumping or diving for a fly ball. A first baseman could be stretching for a catch and the shortstop could be pretending to throw to the first baseman.
Make Baseball Shape
-
A baseball team can lay down on the grass to make the shape of a baseball when viewed from above. Most team members should make the outline of the ball by lying on their sides with their bodies curved and their hands touching the feet of the person in front. A few team members need to make two curved lines inside the outline, like the red stitches on a baseball. For this photo, the photographer should stand at the top of a set of bleachers or on a stepladder and the team should set up below.
Green Screen Photo
-
Take digital team or individual photos in front of a solid blue or green background. After the photo shoot, use photo editing software to replace the blue or green background with a photo of a baseball field. If a particular team is popular in the area, use a photo of that team's stadium full of screaming fans to create a photo that the team members will be proud of.
Simulated Batting
-
Rather than attempting to get a photo of a batter actually hitting a baseball, use a visual trick to make it look like a batter just got a hit. Wrap a piece of fishing line around a nail and hammer this into a baseball. Tie one end of the fishing line to a bat, with the ball no more than a foot away from the bat. Have a volunteer hold the other end of the line out of the frame of the shot. Each player should take a natural swing and stop when the bat is just above home plate. The volunteer can then pull the fishing line to bring the ball to the correct position.
