The Best Ball Gloves

Whether you play baseball as an occasional recreation sport or as a full-time member of an organized team, a quality ball glove will help you to play a better game. When choosing a glove, you should choose one that is made of high-quality materials, fine stitching and provides features, such as shock absorbers to make catching balls easier. Ball gloves vary in price from around $30 to hundreds of dollars depending on quality.
  1. Mizuno

    • Mizuno ball gloves are mid-priced gloves that have been produced for more than 100 years. Mizuno officials claim that they have used bio-mechanical science to create the world's best ball glove, the Mizuno Pro with 4D Advanced Technology. In an independent baseball glove review and buying guide, Galt Tech listed Mizuno gloves as the the best ball glove in two out of three categories. The Mizuno Prospect Series: GPL1150 Youth ball glove was rated as the best overall youth baseball glove because of such features as PowerClose technology that promotes closure of the glove upon impact from a ball. The Mizuno Tradition Series: GTR1255 was rated the best Value/Budget baseball glove by Galt Tech for such features as a palm pad to reduce sting in the palm of the glove. Mizuno designs ball gloves that are specific to the needs of different positions on the ball field, whether you play the infield, outfield, catcher or first base.

    Nokona

    • Nokona produces high quality ball gloves that are priced at the higher end of other gloves on the market. The gloves are made from real leather: cow hides, kangaroo and buffalo hides. In a review by Galt Tech, The Nokona Buffalo Series: AMG100BF glove was ranked as the best high-end baseball glove. Nokona gloves are reputed for their fast break-in time and long-lasting quality. This particular Nokona model features a full weave closed web, hinged pocket and dual strap back. Nokona is based out of Texas and all gloves are made in the United States. This glove might be too pricey for an occasional player or beginner, but it is widely used among semi-professional and professional ball players.

    Wilson

    • Wilson ball gloves are perhaps the most widely used ball gloves because the company offers a variety of styles in a range of prices. In a review by Galt Tech, the Wilson A2000 Series: A2K fell just short of Nokona's glove in the high-end baseball glove category. The glove is popular because it is comfortable and easy to use. Perhaps the only reason the glove fell short in the ratings is that is slightly more expensive than the Nokona glove. High-end gloves are usually only used by professionals and other serious ball players and may cost hundreds of dollars, but you still can find good quality ball gloves at an affordable price. Beginner ball gloves can be found for as little as $30 at many retail sports stores.
