Portable Pitching Mound Instructions

Portable pitching mounds are artificial pitching mounds that use the same dimensions as permanent pitching mounds so that you can practice in the backyard, indoors, outdoors or whenever your fancy strikes. This type of mound folds up and can be transported in an SUV, truck or van. Using this type of mound is quite simple, and there are several brands available for purchase through the Internet, sports shops and catalogs.

Instructions

    • 1

Unfold the pitching mound. You must refer to your users manual for explicit instructions, as each kind of portable pitching mound folds a bit differently.

    • 2

Set the pitching mound up on relatively flat ground. This will give the pitcher the same feel as the permanent mounds on baseball fields.

    • 3

Have the pitcher stand on the mound, and a partner with their glove stand a few yards away to simulate pitching in a game.

    • 4

Throw the ball back and forth to practice. If you have the room, and if the pitcher's partner needs to work on their swing, they can practice their batting while the pitcher practices their pitching.

    • 5

Wipe any dirt off of the portable pitching mound before folding up and packing away after your practice is complete.
