Portable Basketball Goal Instructions

Although it requires some effort, installing a portable basketball goal is less time consuming than installing an in-ground basketball system. A major advantage of a portable hoop is that it can be moved easily, if need be, while still providing users the same opportunities to hone their basketball skills as an in-ground basketball system.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the base of your portable basketball system in your desired location. Fill the base with a 50 pound bag of sand to ensure stability during game play and bad weather.

    • 2

Connect the basketball pole to the base. In most portable basketball kits, two braces are included that can be used to attach the pole. These braces are attached with nuts and bolts that are also usually provided with the kit.

    • 3

Attach the rim to the backboard with the appropriate screws, nut or bolts according to the instruction manual included with your kit.

    • 4

Attach a net using the hooks on the underside of the rim. Simply thread the loops of the net through each of the 16 hooks on the basketball rim.

    • 5

Connect the backboard to the pole. If your basketball goal is an adjustable height system, set the pole is at it's lowest height to help complete this step. If your basketball goal is not adjustable, a ladder may be needed. Most backboards are secured to the pole using six nuts and bolts.

    • 6

Raise the basket to the regulation height of 10 feet, if your portable basketball system's height is adjustable.
