How to Sign Up for the Detroit Basketball Kids' League

Kids have plenty of options for league basketball in Detroit. Joe Dumars' Fieldhouse runs seasons in the fall, winter and summer. Each player must have a contract and waiver form filled out at the time of registration to be eligible to participate. A typical game will have four quarters that are eight minutes long for kids in the third through sixth grades. For kids in the seventh and eighth grades, each quarter will be 10 minutes long.

Instructions

Fill out the league player contract. This form is where you will indicate your interest in being a member of a team as well as pertinent contact information. The information necessary for a youth basketball player will include name, birthday and school. There is also parental information that must be included that states the name of the parents as well as their contact information.

Sign the waiver. The waiver must be signed by the parent of the child participating in the league. The signed waiver form states that the league will not be liable if the player gets hurt while participating in a game at the fieldhouse.

Turn in your paperwork and pay all of the associated fees. All the paperwork that was filled out must be turned in to the fieldhouse where the league is taking place. The fees to participate depend on the season as well as whether a child has played in a league before. There is a late fee of $5 if registering after the deadline at Joe Dumars' Fieldhouse, and an additional $5 fee if registering after the first game has taken place.
