San Antonio AAU Youth Basketball Teams

San Antonio, Texas has a diverse population of more than 1.4 million people and is the home of the Alamo. AAU basketball programs in San Antonio make up most of the basketball teams outside the public school system. There are four AAU basketball programs in San Antonio for girls and boys in grades 6 through 12.
  1. San Antonio Jayhawks

    • The San Antonio Jayhawks are an AAU youth basketball program for boys in grades 6 through 10. The Jayhawks began in 2004 to assist students in their development as student athletes. At the core of the Jayhawks mission is basketball skills training and educating the players in the fundamentals. The coaches teach a Christian-based program concentrating on teamwork, values, education and faith as fundamentals in team sports.

    Texas Tigers

    • The Texas Tigers are a San Antonio AAU basketball program which includes girls and boys teams ranging from fourth to ninth grades. The Tigers program began in 2008. According to the team's website, the coaches teach life skills (academic excellence, motivation and unity) in addition to basketball. The Texas Tigers' season lasts approximately two months and includes travel around the United States. The season finishes with a national tournament in August.

    San Antonio Knights

    • The San Antonio Knights are an AAU youth basketball program featuring players ages 7 to 17. The team was established in 2007 and began with one AAU basketball team; it now has teams in four different AAU divisions. Sportsmanship, integrity, teamwork and respect are some of the life skills instruction taught by the coaches. The youngest AAU basketball team, the Lil Knights, is co-ed; the older teams are primarily for boys.

    San Antonio Comets

    • The Comets are an AAU youth basketball program for girls. Started in 2004, the Comets have three different teams from junior varsity to varsity for girls in sixth through 12th grades. The team's website states the Comets allow girls to play and learn quality basketball in a family atmosphere. The Comets are part of the Cy-Fair Texans group of girls basketball teams, which begin play in February and finish at three different Texas tournaments in April, July and September.
