Things You'll Need
- 2 plywood sheets, 1 inch thick
- Tape measure
- Straight edge
- Pencil
- Saws
- White paint
- Masking tape
- Paper
- Red paint
- Rim
- Screws

Instructions
-
-
1
Mark a piece of ply wood with a rectangle 3-1/2 by 6 feet.
-
2
Glue the two pieces of plywood together so that the pencil rectangle is facing up, then clamp and leave to dry.
-
3
Cut the wood to the shape of the rectangle using a table saw.
-
4
Spray the wood with a white matte-finish all-weather paint. Repeat with multiple layers until the wood is a solid white color.
-
5
Mask off a 2-inch-wide rectangle 1-1/2 feet tall and 2 feet wide, centered across the 6 foot width and 10 inches above the bottom edge of the 3-/12 foot height, so that only the rectangle is exposed.
-
6
Spray with red glossy all-purpose paint and repeat for a second coat once dry, then remove the masking, so you have a white board with a red rectangle on it.
-
7
Secure the rim to the backboard so that the top of the rim is just below the bottom of the red rectangle.
-
8
Mount the backboard on a wall or pole by driving screws through the board and into the pole or wall so that the hoop is 10 feet above the ground.
