Instructions
-
-
1
Pick out a flat surface outside to set up the basketball goal. Clear the area of debris.
-
2
Dig a square-shaped hole in the ground, using a shovel. The hole should by 2 feet wide, 2 feet long and 2 feet deep.
-
3
Measure 18 inches, starting from the bottom of the mounting post. Draw a line with a permanent marker around the mounting post, making sure it remains at the 18-inch mark.
-
4
Mix cement and water in a bucket or wheel barrow, according to the instructions provided on the bag for the hole's size.
-
5
Fill the hole with cement. Pour the cement slowly to prevent air pockets.
-
6
Insert the mounting post into the hole, up to the 18-inch line, making sure it is plumb with the ground. Use a carpenter's level or plumb bob to make the necessary adjustments. Check the positioning of the mounting post after two hours and adjust if necessary. Allow to dry.
-
7
Mix the remaining cement and pour it into the mounting post.
-
8
Allow the cement to dry for about 48 hours. Do this until the concrete begins to harden.
-
9
Attach the net to the rim. Secure the screws into the rim, and then screw the rim to the backboard. Position the backboard and goal in place on the mounting post.
