How to Get Grip on Your Basketball Shoes

Many basketball shoes lose their grip in large part due to an accumulation of dust on the bottom of the shoe. This can negatively affect a player’s performance on the basketball court and even make injuries more likely. For these reasons, it is very important that players have enough traction on basketball shoes and know what can be done to get more grip on the shoes if necessary.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a push broom to sweep the basketball court. Even a small accumulation of dust particles on a basketball court can cause basketball shoes to lose traction. The basketball court should be swept before every use.

    • 2

Clean the bottom of your basketball shoes with a clean cloth. This will remove any excess dust that may have accumulated on the shoes. Do this each time before you put your shoes on.

    • 3

Use a sticky mat. When you stand on it, the sticky mat uses layers of tape to remove the dust from the bottom of the basketball shoes. As a result, the shoes have more grip.
