How to Use a Crank Bros Multitool 17

Bicycle component maker Crank Brothers produces a series of multi-tools designed for bicycle maintenance. The Multi-17 is a 17-tool self-contained device that compacts enough to fit into the pocket of a bicycle jersey or into a seat-wedge bag. The tool is designed to house all 17 tools off a secure set of axles. To use a tool, pry up the tool you need and grip the housing.

      Select your tool from the Multi-17. The tools includes a set of hex wrenches sized 4mm through 8mm, a bicycle spoke and nipple wrench, chain tool (compatible with 8, 9 and 10 speed gearing) and a torque wrench.

      Pull the spoke wrench up from the housing to give access to all other tools. Leave the spoke wrench up and out of the way.

      Bring the selected tool up out of the housing until it is parallel to the housing and cannot move any further. Grip the housing to keep the tool out and ready for use. If using a tool on the spoke wrench side of the Multi-17, push the spoke wrench back down and into the housing.

      Push all tools down and back into the housing and place the spoke wrench over all the other tools when placing it in storage.
