How to Remove a 15mm Look Festina Pedal

The Look Festina pedals are an older model of the bicycle company's component line-up. The pedals' name comes from the now-defunct Festina sponsored road cycling team. The pedals use the industry standard 18mm spindle and threads, which are designed to fit into the cranks' pedal hole threads. Remove the pedals with a special bicycle tool called a pedal wrench. While a bicycle stand is handy for pedal removal, it isn't necessary.

Instructions

    • 1

Lean the bicycle against a wall or post, or into the bike stand. Put the pedal wrench onto the right Look Festina pedal, at the thread nut.

    • 2

Place the adjustable wrench on the opposite pedal and hold it in position. Use opposing force between the pedal wrench and adjustable wrench to "crack" the thread on the right side pedal. Once loosened, turn the pedal wrench to remove the pedal.

    • 3

Hold the now pedal-free crank in one hand and place the pedal wrench onto the left pedal at the thread nut. Turn until the thread "cracks," and then turn the pedal wrench until the pedal is removed.
