Mongoose Blackcomb Specs
-
Frame and Fork
-
The Mongoose Blackcomb mountain bike is built around a full-suspension setup, with both wheels attached to shock absorbers to maximize shock absorption. The frame of the Blackcomb comes equipped with a coil-over rear shock that is connected to the rear wheel by a multiple linkage, four bar system. The Blackcomb's front form is a single-crown RST suspension fork.
Gearing
-
Mongoose's Blackcomb mountain bike has a 24-speed gearing system. A three-piece forged alloy crankset provides rigidity and light weight. This crankset features a traditional triple-chain-ring setup with eight cogs on the rear cassette. Shimano EZ Fire shifters mount under the handlebars.
Braking
-
Mongoose equips the Blackcomb with front and rear Promax disc brakes. These brakes are cable-actuated as opposed to the hydraulic units generally found on higher-end bikes, which helps keep operating costs down. Disc brakes are utilized, as they allow for better mud clearance than V-brakes as they are not wrapped around the tire.
Wheels
-
The Mongoose Blackcomb has 26-inch rims in the front and back of the bike, which is the industry standard for adult mountain bikes. These rims features 36 spokes each and are anodized, providing scratch resistance. Mounted on the Blackcomb's 26-inch rims are a set of knobby mountain bike tires.
