7750 Vs. 7800 Shimano Pedal

The Shimano PD-7750 and the Shimano PD-7800 pedals are clipless road cycling pedals. The pedals attach to specially designed cycling shoes using cleats, eliminating the need for toe clips, and are used to help secure a cyclist's shoe to a traditional pedal.
  1. PD-7750 Features

    • Weighing in at 277 grams, or about 9.77 oz., the PD-7750 features a wide pedal platform to help stabilize the cyclist's foot, a quick binding entry and wide bearing placement for more even distribution of load. It also has a low-profile design that brings the sole of the cyclist's shoe closer to the spindle on which the pedal spins, enhancing stability.

    PD-7800 Features

    • The features of the PD-7800 pedal by Shimano are identical to those of the PD-7750 except in one respect; the PD-7800 does not feature the wide bearing placement of the PD-7750.

    Technical Information

    • The PD-7750 and PD-7800 are both designed for use with SPD-SL pedals, and either Shimano SM-SH10 or SM-SH11 cleats. When used with SM-SH10 cleats, the position of the shoe is fixed when the cleats are firmly engaged with the pedals, meaning the cleats must be mounted on the bottom of the shoe in a position that is comfortable for the rider. With the SM-SH11 cleats, the pedals operate in a self-aligning mode, so there is some sideways play of the shoe when the cleats are firmly engaged with the pedal. This means the rider can fine-tune the position her foot after the shoes snap onto the pedals.
