1
Research BMX tire parts on the Internet. It is advisable to search for and purchase wheel parts from outlets or stores that have discounted merchandise. BMX racing is an expensive sport, and a rider will need multiple sets of wheels in addition to knowing how to repair damaged wheels.
-
2
Measure the hub and the rim to determine what length of spokes will be needed for the BMX wheel. Also, decide whether a 36 or 48 spoke wheel is needed for the bike. The G Sport BMX website explains that there are various spoke crossing patterns that can be chosen when setting the spokes.
-
3
Hold the hub and thread spokes into every other hole. The spokes should be thread from the outside of the hub. Insert the alternate end of each of the spokes into the correct holes on the opposite side of the BMX bike tire rim.
-
4
Insert a spoke nipple onto the end of each of the spokes until the threading is no longer visible. When all of the spokes have been inserted through the hub and into the opposite side of the rim, the rest of the spokes can be added onto the other side of the hub and into the rim. Once the spokes are added there should be two empty holes between each spoke.
-
5
Insert a spoke into each of the empty holes from the inside of the hub and attach the other end into the rim. The spokes will alternate and be threaded above and then below the spokes that are already in place. Once one side is completed, spokes should be threaded into the other side of the wheel as well.
-
6
Attach the tire to the rim and make sure that no points are rubbing. The G Sport BMX website explains that the newly formed tire can be secured onto the BMX bike, aired up, and then taken for a test ride to ensure that everything is functioning correctly.
