How to Become a College Coach
Instructions

1
If you have never coached, you should immediately volunteer to coach a local team or at least assist the head coach in the sport you are in interested in coaching. You can coach a rec league team or ask a local high school, or even college, if there are any volunteer opportunities.
-
2
Keep notes about your practices. Be sure to note not only the successes of each of your practices, but more importantly the things you need to work on in future practices.
-
3
If your team does not already use a video camera to record games, you should start doing so. Watching videos will help you pinpoint what you need to address with your players.
-
4
After each game, write down in your game-day notebook the good points and discouraging points of the game. Address these points with your players. Study all your notes, all your plays and what worked and did not work.
-
5
Write a resume and keep it up to date. Make a list of contacts. Keep track of all your games, the scores, the statistics and where your former players have gone on to play. Make a folder with all of this information for potential employers.
