Wisconsin Division 5 Football Teams

High school football teams in the state of Wisconsin are divided into seven divisions. Schools are categorized by total enrollment: schools with the greatest number of students are placed in Division 1 while schools with the fewest students compete in Division 7. As of 2011, 60 schools compete in Division 5. These teams are spread across more than 20 conferences and separated into five regions.
  1. Greater Milwaukee

    • There are six Division 5 teams in the Greater Milwaukee region. Martin Luther, Kenosha St. Joseph, Shoreland Lutheran and the University School form half of the eight-team Midwest Classic-South Conference, while the Hope School is the lone Division 5 representative in the Midwest Classic-North Conference. Ethan Allen, the team with the smallest enrollment -- 222 students -- of any team in Division 5, participates in the Indian Trails Conference.

    Madison/Southwest

    • The Madison/Southwest region is home to 14 of the Division 5 teams in Wisconsin. Poynette and Watertown Luther Prep participate in the Capitol-North Conference, while Waterloo, Cambridge and Wisconsin Heights play in the Capitol-South Conference. Lancaster is the only Division 5 school in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference, while Darlington, Cuba City and Boscobel take part in the Southwest Wisconsin Activities Conference. Pardeeville, Oshkosh Lourdes/Valley Christian and Dodgeland form part of the Trailways-Large Conference, while Parkview and Palmyra-Eagle compete in the Rock Valley-South Conference.

    Fox Valley

    • Eight Division 5 teams are in the Fox Valley region. Oostburg, Cedar Grove-Belgium, Howards Grove and Random Lake compete in the Central Lakeshore Conference. Laconia and Horicon are the only Division 5 teams in the Flyway Conference. Brillion, the 2010 Division 5 state champions, and Reedsville participate in the Olympian-Packerland-Small Conference.

    North Central

    • Fifteen schools in Division 5 are in Wisconsin's North Central region. Bonduel, Amherst and Manawa participate in the Central Wisconsin-Eight Conference while Marion/Tigerton is the only Division 5 school featured in the Central Wisconsin-Ten Conference. Stratford, Auburndale, Marathon, Rib Lake/Prentice, Chequamegon and Phillips account for more than half of the teams in the Marawood Conference; however, Peshtigo, is the only Division 5 representative in the Marinette and Oconto Conference. Northern Elite, Wabeno/Laona, Crandon and Menominee Indian compete in the Northern Lakes Conference.

    Eau Claire/La Crosse

    • With the exception of Heritage Christian, the lone independent school in Division 5, the remaining schools compete in the Eau Claire/La Crosse region. Colby, the Division 5 state runner-up in 2010, Osseo-Fairchild, Stanley-Boyd, Spencer/Columbus Catholic, Fall Creek and Cadott participate in the Cloverbelt Conference. Arcadia and Westby compete in the Coulee Conference, while Mondovi and Elk Mound play in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference. As of the 2010-11 school year, Unity, with 360 students, boasts the largest enrollment of any Division 5 school in the state. It plays alongside Grantsburg and Cameron in the Lakeland-Large Conference. Ladysmith, Aquinas and Necedah are the only Division 5 schools in their respective conferences. Ladysmith is in the Heart O'North Conference, Aquinas competes against Division 2 and 3 schools in the Mississippi Valley Conference, and Necedah participates in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.
