Good Luck Ideas to Give Football Players
-
Nostalgic Pieces
-
Many football players look to their fathers or grandfathers for inspiration. Give your son a piece of uniform you used to wear; he can put it in his locker for inspiration while he is getting dressed. Ideas include an old letterman's jacket, football helmet, football jersey or football pin. After he is done playing, he can keep the memento to pass along to his son.
Decorating the Bus
-
Cheerleaders or a team spirit group often decorate the travel bus with streamers and decorative art. Sayings such as "Go Team," "Beat 'Em," or "Fight, Fight Fight" are all examples. Decorate the bus using the school colors. Just be sure not to hang anything off the bus that can come off and cause damage to another vehicle traveling behind.
Goody Bag
-
Sometimes cheerleaders or spirit committees put together goody bags for the football players to wish them luck. These goody bags can contain homemade cakes and cookies, trail mix, protein bars and beverages such as Gatorade. You can decorate the outside of each goody bag with each player's name, number and a good luck message. Finish the goody bag by tying a piece of ribbon around it in school colors.
Decorate the Locker
-
If playing a home game, the cheerleaders or local spirit group can decorate the locker for each player. Obtain permission from the athletic director or football coach ahead of time. Several hours before the game, decorate each player's locker with streamers, posters and pictures of inspiration. Try to make each locker personal to the player. For instance, if you know that a player loves the New York Giants, hanging a picture of the Giants quarterback might provide a sense of inspiration.
