1
Determine whether the former Pittsburgh Steelers player is living or deceased. Visit the NFL's players web page, nfl.com/players, and type in the name of the player you're seeking. If he is a retired player, click the "Historical Players" icon before searching. The NFL keeps a database of all of its past and current players, and this site will tell you basic information about each former player, including whether or not he is alive.
-
2
Search for the player's name on the Internet and browse articles that mention the player. This type of research will help you learn more information about the player, including his city, age and more. If the player is still relatively young, try an Internet "news" search for his name. He may be coaching football at the high school or college level, and may be mentioned in a recent article. If you determine that the former player is coaching, search for the high school's or college's contact information and write him a letter in care of the school.

3
Contact the Pittsburgh Steelers by email or phone. This information is listed on the team's website. Explain your purpose for wishing to find a former player. If your reason is acceptable to the team's administration, it may pass along contact information for the player. Many retired players are still affiliated with their NFL clubs with the purpose of interacting with fans.

4
Contact the NFL Players Association through its website and explain your purpose for wishing to find a former Steelers player. If your reason is acceptable, the NFLPA may provide you with the player's mailing address.
