    • Football playmaking software provides coaches with a basic program for drawing up offensive and defensive plays for their players to learn. The majority of programs allow coaches to save their own plays, while an animation screen shows players how the play is supposed to be run. Coaches can print off the diagrams for use during the game.

    Types

    • The majority of football playmaking programs can be categorized in two areas. The most basic software provides coaches with blank field displays on which they can drag and drop players and lines that show where they are supposed to run. The more elaborate version actually demonstrates the plays being run using animation sequences, showing the players exactly what they should do on a given play.

    Warning

    • The complexity of some football plays might be too much for a computer program to handle. Coaches still have a responsibility to draw up their most difficult plays by hand and ensure that each player understands them. Football software is valuable as a teaching aid but is still limited in its usefulness.
