1
Use your jersey to cheer on your favorite player. Communicate a message of support. Use letter stamps or stencils and bold black fabric paint on the jersey to say whatever you want. Incorporate your name: “Ryan loves the Broncos!” or “Margie loves the Patriots!”; or use a specific player’s name: “Manning is the Man!” or “Tom Brady for President!” Get alliterative: “Fabulous Falcons!” or “Fantastic 49ers!” or “Rock 'em, Redskins!” Stick with classics such as “Go Packers!” or “Cardinals are #1!”; or acknowledge the stadium where your team plays: “Always Best at Qwest” or “Reliable Reliant.”

Use the colors of your team on the jersey. Make use of your team’s colors. Try the message concept using bright, vivid colors instead of black: yellow and purple for “This is Vikings Country”; green and blue for “Seahawks: Second to None”; red, yellow and blue for “Patriotss All the Way.” Or use fabric paint in team colors to put polka dots or blocks of color on your jersey. Another technique to try is sewing on lace, fabric scraps, shoelaces, flags, feathers or ribbon in team colors onto your jersey.

Put the mascot on your jersey. Get really creative and use the team’s mascot. Draw it on, then use sequins, rhinestones, puffy paint and fabric paint, felt and fabric glue, markers, glitter and buttons to bring it to life. These zany characters, creatures and animals will really make a statement on your jersey. To name a few, there are Big Red and Freddie Falcon, a big cardinal and falcon which represent the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons; Sir Purr and Billy Buffalo, a big black panther and an 8-foot buffalo which represent the Carolina Panthers and New York’s Buffalo Bills; and Captain Fear and Boltman, a pirate and a muscular dude with a lightning bolt for a head who represent the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the San Diego Chargers.
