Operating Instructions for 1998 Club Car Golf Cart

Chances are, if you have played a round of golf at your local country club, you have seen a Club Car Golf Cart. These machines are either gas powered or all-electric, depending on the model of cart. They allow you to easily drive from hole to hole during your game. Operating the 1998 model of the Club Car Golf Cart is much like driving a car or truck with an automatic transmission. Simply turn on the engine, then use the pedals and steering wheel.

Instructions

    • 1

Grasp the handle on the roof on the driver's side of the golf cart, to help you get into the driver's seat. Make sure that all passengers are inside the vehicle and ready for the golf cart to go into motion. Insert the key into the ignition switch, then turn it to the "On" position to start the engine.

    • 2

Pull the shift handle into the "Forward" or "Reverse" position, depending on the direction you want to move. Press down on the accelerator pedal slowly with your right foot. Pressing down on the pedal will release the parking break and you will begin to move. Press down harder on the pedal to increase speed and let off to coast.

    • 3

Use the steering wheel to turn the golf cart while you are driving. If you need to slow down or come to a stop, let off of the accelerator and press down slowly on the break pedal to slow down. Do not press all the way down on the pedal while the cart is in motion. Allow the cart to come to a rolling stop.

    • 4

Press all the way down on the break pedal to engage the parking break before exiting the golf cart. If you are finished using the golf cart for the day, engage the parking break and pull the shifter into the "Neutral" position. Turn the key to the "Off" position and remove it from the switch.
