How to Keep the Right Shoulder From Moving Out Over the Ball

Being able to keep your right shoulder from moving out over the ball has shown to be a problem for beginning golfers. Many professional golfers still struggle at times with the proper form and technique. Everyone could use a little tuning up in their golf swing and many golfers search the Internet looking for the latest hot tips. For right-handed golfers, keeping the right shoulder behind the ball is crucial to hitting a good clean ball.

Instructions

    • 1

Stand parallel to the golf ball and place the ball in the middle of your stance. This allows for the club to make contact with the ball at the lowest point in your swing.

    • 2

Begin to take the club back for the backswing. Keep the front elbow completely straight while you take the club back slowly.

    • 3

Bring your shoulders back first during your backswing. The hips should follow, but only after you have moved the hips back first.

    • 4

Bring the club forward and transfer your weight toward your front left foot. This transfer in weight will allow for power in your shot.

    • 5

Keep your arms straight and low at impact with the ball. This will allow the front shoulder from moving out over the ball and result in a straight shot.
