The Difference Between Taylor Made Burner 09 & 10

Every golfer is looking to improve their performance, and choosing the right equipment can help maximize your performance on the course. Taylor Made has made the Burner Iron series so that it something for a golfer of any skill. Understanding the differences of each year's model can help you decide which model is best for you and your game.
  1. 2009 Burner Irons

    • The 2009 Burner Irons were the No. 1 selling iron set that year. They offered increased distance and forgiveness that improved playability and performance. Each club was designed individually, and the longer irons were more forgiving to make hitting easier. The whole set was designed with a thinner club face and larger cavity to increase clubhead speed and offer more forgiveness. The finish was a smooth darker finish that differentiated it from the other sets on the market. The set was designed with all skill levels in mind.

    2010 Burner 1.0

    • In 2010, Taylor Made didn't tinker with the best-selling set from the previous year too much. The U.S. Golf Association changed the rules regarding conforming grooves, so the Burner 1.0 has the new conforming grooves. In addition, the finish is lighter and has a more silvery finish. Finally, the Burner 1.0 clubs cannot be customized as much, and only one shaft type -- uniflex -- is offered, unlike the previous year's model, which is offered in multiple shaft types and can be customized easily.

    2011 Burner 2.0

    • The Burner 2.0 offers more technological advancements than the previous years' models. The Burner 2.0 has a size progression, where the shorter irons have smaller club heads and they progressively get larger in the longer irons. The Burner 2.0 was also designed to offer distinct distance gaping of 12 yards between each club. Taylor Made thinned the face even more to offer more clubhead speed, distance and a larger back cavity to increase the height of the ball flight. Finally, there is a vibration detection system in each club to help increase feel and feedback on each shot.

    Choosing the Best Burner Iron

    • Each model progressively gets more advanced, and more research and technology creates a better performing golf club. The Burner 2.0 draws on the success of the previous models, and creates a high-performing, easy-to-use golf club for all skill levels of golfers.
