Wacky Golf Games to Play
-
Duck Hunt
-
Have someone dress up in a duck costume. Purchase the costume or have the player wear a yellow shirt and and buy a foam duck mask or visor at a craft or party supply store. Have the rest of the players stand side by side, forming a line. Give each player a golf club and a bucket of foam balls. When play begins, the duck will run back and forth along a line parallel to the golfers. The duck can do crazy moves, such as waddle like a duck, hop on one foot, or dance across the line, but he must always be in motion. As the duck moves back and forth, golfers must putt their balls at him. Golfers earn a point each time they manage to hit the duck.
Silly Putts
-
Silly Putts requires players to perform funny tasks while putting the golf ball. Designate a silly putting move for each hole. All players must successfully sink their balls using the silly putt move in order to advance to the next hole. The first golfer to complete the course wins. Ideas for silly swings include blindfolded putt, putt while standing on one foot, hop like a bunny, and putt with a hockey stick.
Obstacle Course
-
Create a crazy obstacle course in the backyard. Place empty tin cans or beach buckets on their sides to serve as the holes. Arrange them in a pattern around the yard. Stake a numbered flag next to each can to designate the order of holes. Place obstacles throughout the course. Players will need to putt their way around the obstacles in order to complete the course. Suggestions for obstacles include any items you can find around the house, such as toys, pots, pans, a wheelbarrow and garden hose. Include large cardboard boxes with cutouts that players must putt their balls through to the other side. Other silly things for players to pass through on the course are water from a running sprinkler and lengths of silly string hanging from a clothesline.
Golf Relay Race
-
Have players form two teams. Set up two identical, small-scale obstacle courses, each with a hole at the end. The first players in line for each team must race to putt a golf ball through the obstacle and into the hole. When a player sinks the ball, she must retrieve it from the hole, putt back through the obstacle and hand the ball to the next player in line, who then must repeat the process. The first team to successfully complete the relay wins.
