How to Measure Golf Shaft Tips
When installing a new club head, knowing the thickness of the golf club shaft tip is important to ensure a proper fit. A shaft tip that is too small will not secure itself with the glue, while a large shaft tip will not allow enough glue to bond between the club head. With a few tools, you can measure the golf shaft tip to ensure a proper fit into the club head hosel.
Things You'll Need
- Electronic or manual caliper
- Golf shaft (with club head hosel)
- Sandpaper
- Marker
Instructions

1
Remove any debris on the golf shaft tip with coarse sandpaper or a moistened paper towel.
-
2
Place a club head hosel on the golf shaft. Mark the point where the hosel rim meets the shaft.
-
3
Scrape the shaft coating with a piece of sandpaper. Start from the mark you made in Step 2 and up toward the shaft tip. Continue to scrape until the shiny coating has been completely removed.
-
4
Measure the golf shaft tips using electronic or manual calipers. Place the caliper arms around the tip of the golf shaft. If you are using an electronic caliper, the measurement should appear on the device screen.
