1
Cut the existing grip off the club shaft using your knife. Different shaft types have different durability levels, so it is always best to use the knife as little as possible and tear the rest away with your hand. If there is no grip on the club to begin with, disregard this step.
-
2
Pour solvent over the newly exposed area of the club and remove any existing tape or tape residue using your washcloth.
-
3
Wipe the club dry and wind your double-sided tape around the portion of the shaft that is to be covered by the new ribbed grip. Use the new grip as an indicator of how far down the shaft your tape should wrap.
-
4
Pour solvent into your ribbed grip, at least three-quarters full, plugging the holes at either end with your thumb and index fingers. Shake vigorously until the solvent has saturated the entire inner wall of the grip.
-
5
Make note of the rib's location on the grip and dump all the solvent out onto the newly taped portion of the shaft.
-
6
Slide the ribbed grip onto the taped portion of the shaft, making sure the ripped part is running down the backside. Make sure the butt of the shaft is flush against the butt of the grip, and allow the club to set for eight to 12 hours before using.
